Diaspora Engagement

Diaspora communities have gained huge attention for their active participation in the stabilization of their countries of origin, but also in welcoming new waves of refugees and supporting them in their new homes.

IMPACT plays a vital role in facilitating interaction among diverse civil society, political, and expert actors at both local and international levels, fostering connections around shared interests. Networking is deeply integrated into our activities, and we extend beyond financial and legal support to actively host and support advocacy networks. Our initiatives include hosting advocacy platforms like the We Exist Advocacy Network and the Syrian Civil Society Networks Platform.

In Germany, IMPACT’s interventions focus on supporting Syrian diaspora communities, particularly helping newcomers transition into active members of the diaspora. Our flagship program, MPs2030, provides civic education to newly arrived youth, empowering them to engage in Germany’s social and political life. The program is designed to cultivate future leaders who will represent their communities, influence German political discourse, and share their experiences with their home countries.

MPs2030 (Members of Parliament in 2030)

This program equips ambitious youth with the civic knowledge and tools necessary to participate in Germany’s political landscape. Through workshops and meetings with politicians, migrant role models, and experts, participants gain insights into the political system and are empowered to lead their communities. The program focuses on fostering leaders who can contribute to shaping political discourse in Germany while maintaining ties with their countries of origin.

Young Leaders Alumni and Los Geht’s

Graduates of the MPs2030 program join the Young Leaders Alumni network, which provides ongoing coaching and job placements in government departments, political parties, and organizations. These alumni meet annually to continue their civic and political engagement, with the most active participants receiving additional support to further their careers in public service.
